World Dissertation Library and MIT Press User-Education Training Session

The  Br. Fidelis Leddy Center for Learning Resources (CLR) would like to invite you to attend our user-education training session on World Dissertation Libraray and MIT Press.

 

World Dissertation Library - is a high-quality, scholarly database that specializes in dissertations, theses, and academic papers in the fields of science and technology engineering sciences, agronomy, medicine, and health social sciences, economy, management science, and related disciplines.

 

MIT Press Direct eBooks - is the best way for libraries to offer MIT Press eBooks to their patrons. Libraries can access the complete collection, with more than 3,000 eBooks and approximately 150 added each year, or subject-specific collections.

 

The learning outcomes of the training session are as follows :

For World Dissertation Library (WDL):  

  • Understand the purpose and scope of the World Dissertation Library and its relevance to academic research;
  • Navigate the WDL interface, including search and advanced search functionalities;
  • Identify and access full-text dissertations across various disciplines;
  • Download and cite dissertations using appropriate referencing styles     

For MIT Press Direct eBook:

  • Understand the  content scope of MIT Press Direct, including its focus areas (e.g., science, technology, philosophy, art);
  • Navigate the MIT Press Direct platform to efficiently locate eBooks by subject, title, or author;
  • Access and download full-text eBooks in available formats (PDF, EPUB);
  • Use advanced search and filters to find specific topics or authors;
  • Incorporate MIT Press resources into academic writing and coursework effectively       

By achieving these goals, our participants will be equipped with the necessary skills and able to benefit from the WDL and MIT Press experiences.

 

NOTE:  This session will be conducted for both graduate and undergraduate students via Zoom and is limited to a maximum of 300 participants only.

              Likewise, there will be no deaf interpreters available during this session.
