In celebration of National Book Week 2025 with the theme "Tulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-Asa", the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Center for Learning Resources (CLR) will host a Book Talk featuring two distinguished Filipino authors whose works promote reflection, cultural awareness, and social understanding.

The event highlights Mr. Mark Nikolas Martin, author of "The We Fit Culture: A Living, Breathing Culture of Care", and Mr. Ian Christopher Alfonso, author of "Dogs in Philippine History". Through their respective works, both authors explore themes central to the Lasallian Core Values - care, inclusivity, compassion, and social responsibility.

This literary engagement supports the CLR's continuing advocacy to promote a culture of reading, intellectual curiosity, and empathy among students and faculty. By engaging directly with Filipino authors, the Benildean community will gain valuable insights into how literature can shape perspectives on leadership, culture, and national identity.

The objectives of the event are as follows :

• To promote appreciation of Philippine-authored literary and non-fiction works;
• To encourage reflective dialogue on topics related to culture, compassion, and national history;
• To engage students and faculty in critical conversations with contemporary Filipino authors;
• To celebrate National Book Week through interactive and meaningful literary activities.

The expected outcomes are as follows :

• Participants will gain new perspectives on cultural identity, empathy, and social awareness;
• Strengthened connection between the CLR and Filipino authors;
• Reinforced partnership between the CLR and Filipino authors;
• Increased engagement in CLR's literary and intellectual initiatives.

NOTE:  This event will be held in person for Benildean students, faculty, and associates, limited to a maximum of 60 participants only.

              There will be no Deaf interpreters available during this event.
